Earthquake damage and repeated hits

Earthquake removes a percentage of the target’s HP. The first hit is strongest; the calculator reduces the contribution of each later hit on that same target.

Buildings and heroes use different percentages

For a building, ZapQuake uses the first-hit building percentage at your spell level. For heroes, only levels 6–8 have a nonzero percentage in the current data. The calculator applies that hero percentage to eligible ground heroes and treats Minion Prince and Dragon Duke as immune.

Supercell's February 2026 update introduces levels 6–8 and confirms ground-troop damage. The zero hero damage at levels 1–5, numeric hero percentages, and repeated-hit detail below follow the calculator data and community Earthquake reference; the official update does not publish those percentages.

Zero means no eligible hero damage, not a missing data value. Percentages describe the calculator's target model; they are not a whole troop-army simulation.

What happens on hits two, three, and four?

The shared Earthquake helper adds the first-hit percentage, then one third, one fifth, and one seventh of that percentage. It uses the target's selected starting HP for this total and caps the summed fraction at 100%.

Total fraction = first-hit fraction × (1 + 1/3 + 1/5 + 1/7 …)

Displayed percentages are rounded to two decimal places. The solver keeps the underlying precision. Walls use separate mechanics and are outside this calculator's scope; do not apply this building table to walls.

Two reproducible combinations

Both examples use manual levels, Town Hall caps off, no equipment, normal HP, and ranked and seasonal modifiers off. Disable both Advanced spell-count limits; the default Earthquake search considers zero to four spells.

The default building setup

Target
Air Defense, level 3 · 900 HP
Lightning
Level 7 · 400 damage
Earthquake
Level 5 · 29% first hit

1 Earthquake + 2 Lightning = 3 spells

29% of 900 HP = 261 Earthquake damage. Add 2 × 400 Lightning damage for 1,061 total damage and 161 HP overkill.

A maximum-level ground hero

Target
Barbarian King, level 110 · 13,350 HP
Lightning
Level 13 · 720 damage
Earthquake
Level 8 · 14.5% first hero hit

2 Earthquake + 15 Lightning = 17 spells

Two diminishing Earthquakes contribute 2,581 HP. The 15 Lightning spells contribute 10,800 HP, leaving 31 HP overkill.

This is unrestricted single-target arithmetic. A 17-spell result is not a legal army-capacity recommendation. Use the Advanced limits for the spells you intend to bring.
